Can anyone recommend a good informative parenting book?

Toddler taming is the most non-fuss, practical, common sense, blunt, funny, informative, entertaining book for parenting. It has so much stuff for so many stages and it is humourous as well, it takes the 'clinical' thing out that so many parenting books have and just suggest's a common sense approach to stuff. It also has a common childhood disease section which I have turned to so many times. My kids are 2.5 and 5 and i still refer to it regularly. Best thing my MIL could've bought me!

They aren't expensive either and I think more convenient to have on hand than going to the internet everytime you want to query something. (except going to YA anyway!!)

Good luck

Try Miriam Stoppard too, she writes fantastic baby/parenting books! Can anyone recommend a good informative parenting book?
If you want to try the What to Expect the First Years book, then I suggest you sign up for a free copy! It's available at the link below:

Give it a try..it's free after all!Can anyone recommend a good informative parenting book?
no book can tell you how to be a mum....it comes from your heart and if you are ever worried you should go to yur doctors.you will get basic advice from other mums and your health visitor anyway and other mums are ususlly a good source!
The Dr. Sears book, The Baby Book. He's a peditrician and father of 8, his wife is a pediatric nurse.

They always offer good sound practical advice and give their experience to back it up.

I own several of their books and have always found them very helpful.
Books can't teach parenting. Sure they can give you guidelines or ideas but not every suggestion is going to work for every situation just like not all children react the same way or grow and develop at the same rate. Most parenting skills develop over time and come from instinct.
Try Doctor Phil's Family First
I bought 'partenting for dummies' for my sister while she was pregnant for a joke but everytime i'm at her house, i always have a read and look things up in it. I should really have bought one for myself! it's a great book! :)
Dr. Miriam Stoppards, parenting books are usually quite good to read.
Yes your friends and family. Yes books are good but its a dream world in books. Any questions or advice talk to people around you who are experienced with children.
I love the book What to expect the first year by Arlene Eisenberg. They also have a good What to exepct the toddler years. Great advise and realistic situations.
Hi, my wife and I have 3 kids (the youngest is 1 year old the oldest is 5). We have used http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Toddler-Taming-Bestselling-Parenting/dp/0091902584/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/026-4347515-2766058?ie=UTF8%26amp;s=books%26amp;qid=1187269844%26amp;sr=8-1 and it has been excellent.
Toddler Taming - brilliant and empowering.
I love any book by Dr. T. Berry Brazelton - he is practical, informative and realistic.

A lot of people like Dr. Sears also but he is a bit to push with the natural stuff for me.

Happiest Baby on the Block, and Happiest Toddler on the Block are great for those first few years.

What to Expect the First Year, and What to Expect the Toddler Years are good for checking those odd situations that come up but is better as a quick reference.
supernanny, toddler taming, get along to the library they always loads,
