My mom did some great things.. but ultimately pushes me away and honestly can't see what she is doing no matter how I tell her.
For myself, I know that I am a great parent and doing good. I mostly have confidence in my parenting skills.. but seeing how my mom has no idea what she does, even when I tell her... it makes me wonder sometimes.
Do you have confidence in your parenting skills... I do (until I talk to my mom, lol)Do you have confidence in your parenting skills?
It's hard when you have had difficult relationship issues with a parent. You question your own abilities at times. As long as you do not rely on your own way, but you gain knowledge and wisdom from others, books, education, etc... to help support your parenting skills and abilities, then you are doing the best that you can. We all make mistakes as parents. Just keep those lines of communication open with your children, as they grow, and that ';thanks Mom'; will come.
One word of warning, do not down or complain about your mother to your children- it teaches them to do the same.Do you have confidence in your parenting skills?
yes I do. Because my kids are happy and we talk about what they would like to have changed in family meetings (everything from dissipline style and up...no critism allowed)
I do have a great deal of confidence in my parenting skills! I know I am a better mother than my mother ever was; and my husband is a better father than either one of our fathers! My kids are well taken care of and I havn't scared them in any way.
I think most mothers know intuitively how to be a good parent.
Perhaps you and your mother have a communication problem??.
Sometimes, when Moms get older and are perhaps experiencing some ';changes'; in their lives they get a little out of whack. I have experienced this with my mother and my mother in law.
As long as you feel you are doing the best you can (and sometimes better then your parents did) then you are doing great! I try to learn from the things that my parents did that I didn't like and do them differently, and boy have I learned and changed a lot when it comes to parenting my children.
