When a man answers a question in the parenting section...?

Do you put more or less weight on it? Or is it of equal value to a woman's answer? Does it depend on the subject matter? Or whether the person agrees with your ideas or not? When a man answers a question in the parenting section...?
The easiest way to ten points is to agree with the views of the person asking the question. In that case, it doesn't matter if the answerer is a man or a woman. I noticed when the ';regulars'; of the parenting section were asked to name the answerers they appreciated the most, the overwhelming number of people mentioned were women. I think that the gals, in fact, just want to hear from other women unless they are looking to be amused. Of course, some time the subject matter lends itself to a male response but for the most part women looking for advice in this category see males as annoying. When a man answers a question in the parenting section...?
To me, Loppy, it is of equal value to an extent, and also it depends on the subject matter, and whether it would be a question that only a woman would know, like breast feeding, pregnancy questions.

Smart, William very smart, how about having an avatar that looks nothing like you, even better, huh?
Honestly, I don't look at the avatars, so male or female makes no difference to me, I'm looking at answers.

They don't have to agree as long as they have well thought out opinions disagreeing with me but saying they're right ';because they said so and that's it'; is always going to make me think they're an idiot regardless of gender.
Men normally don't have much to say (in my experience), especially when it comes to child rearing. So when they do speak up, I usually tend to take note, more so than if a woman was answering the question. The only time I tend to disregard what they have to say is if it's about, say, breastfeeding.
That really depends on the answer...and the situation.

My husband has many opinions about parenting...but I was the one putting in the time with our child. He couldn't change diapers...THAT made him gag, and anything gross, messy, or unpleasant ended in my lap...at times literally.

But if a father is actually sharing in the child care. then yes...his answer has the same weight as a mom's.

You know play the game, you no make the rules...
Half the time I don't even notice the avatar while I'm reading the answer. If the answer makes sense, it makes sense. If it doesn't, it doesn't.
How do you know whether it is a male or female? Just because they say they are male or female, doesnt mean they are telling the truth.

But, I read the answers regardless... some men know just as much as women :)
More weight because a man opinion and he's thought are so powerful. Especially when its father and daughter, or son. Sometimes I believe father can have more influence then mothers.
If it is a logical and well thought out answer- instead of the idiotic answers most men give on here- I take it in perspective as much as I do answers from women.
Men are just as much parents as women are. Both men and women can have stupid, or smart answers. It depends on the person, not the gender.
It's the internet. You don't know who is really answering the question.
the man's opinion shouldn't hold less value based on gender. it's just an opinion %26amp; some men are great parents.
If it mattered, Id only go to boards with a Mothering section.
