Parenting style, I feel, can deeply effect the outlook of individuals. Children, at a young age, often want to prove their parents are right. It's scary to be dependent on someone who is wrong, so if a parent tells a child something like, ';You're so smart!'; ';You're so wonderful!'; the child believes it.
Likewise, if the parent insults the child, the child believes that as well. And this can have an effect on development.
